Cyclocross Nats. a success!

It's amazing to see CycloCross athletes in action. Their finess, grace and strength makes this sport enjoyable for everyone and anyone. Plus, there really is no "Bad Seat in the House"!! Throw on some old boots (because yes, it can get muddy) dust off your Cow Bell, invite a few friends along and of course, order up a cold Belgium style beer and enjoy the race. The course is generally 1.5 - 2+ miles in length. Obstacles, hills, stair climbs and possibly mud contribute in making each course unique and challenging. Add yelling and screaming spectators of all kinds and it's definitely something to remember.

Last week a few of my friends and I watched Saturday and Sundays races. It was awesome to see spectators handing out cans of beer (Old Style) dollar bills or just swag to the atheltes as they were running up the stair climb. For a while there, watching the spectators was more enjoyable than the athletes...sorry but it was quite amuzing! The other thing I admired were the announcers!  100x more exciting to listen to these Cyclocross Announcers than say an announcer for Golf or a Baseball Game. These guys are incredible! They have to be consuming enough beer or water to keep their throats smooth for the amount of talking and screaming they do. Cross spectators and athletes are also so darn down to earth.  You could be enjoying a beer while watching a race at the same time chatting it up with the guy/girl standing next to you. Before you know he/she excuses themselves because they have to warm up before they race. Awesome! Also, on a side note...there is nothing more appealing than seeing a fit, healthy and dirty women doing Cross.
