In road and time trial bicycling, fit is everything. When your bicycle is adjusted and fitting properly, your performance is optimal. But a millimeter off here, a half-degree off there, and you may well experience numb hands, throbbing neck, or strained knees – not to mention a big hit in efficiency and technique. In cooperation with Head Coach Jessica Laufenberg, M.S., CSCS, USAT Level II Coach and Owner of SBR Coaching, we offer the most advanced fitting technology available in Wisconsin in combination with over 18 years of expertise in exercise physiology and biomechanics. Avoid injury and improve performance: Get Fit to Be Fit.
For cyclists with a bike already in hand, we offer a static fit package that includes in-person interviews to review your riding style and goals and physical measurements. You will be assessed and fit to your bike with our in-house exercise and biomechanical physiologist.
In many situations, the order of action is “bike first, fit second.” However, all too often an impulse buy of a bicycle that is ill-fitting but on sale or used can result in needless discomfort or even injury. By inverting the process to “fit first, bike second,” you can walk into any shop or assess second-hand bicycles armed with knowledge about the dimensions that will suit your physique best. This service is for those who wish to be fit by the best professionals at RBS, but purchase a bicycle elsewhere. It also includes a follow-up finishing fit after your purchase.
Imagine riding a bicycle that can morph itself into any dimensions and any geometry you like – in real time, while you’re riding it. Now imagine being able to simulate riding on any terrain at the same time while being able to measure your pedaling efficiency. Which feels more comfortable while climbing a 4.5% incline, a 55.5 cm frame or a 56 cm frame? If you increase the top tube length by 4 millimeters, does your performance improve? With the GURU Dynamic Fit Unit in combination with the CompuTrainer system and Spin Scan pedaling analysis software, information is yours. To offer the most advanced bike fitting technology available, Rocket Bicycle Studio is proud to partner with SBR Coaching, which holds exclusive license to the GURU Dynamic Fit Unit in south-central Wisconsin.
This highly beneficial fit series will be set into three phases. Your first fit session will include a head-to-toe anatomical evaluation. This will establish baseline information for your entire fit session. Our exercise and biomechanical physiologist will guide you through your fitting until you are in the most optimum position for riding comfort, performance and pleasure. Your second fit phase will be after your bike has been purchased and assembled. We will take your DFU measurements and set you up on your new bike with precision. Once you are set, the final phase of your bike build will take place. A few days later, ride out on your new bike with the knowledge you need to love and ride it!

Squirming all over the place? It might be your saddle, but it might not. Ride in and let's check your body position, and then let you try a saddle that would best fit you. Your backside is one of the most important points of contact on a bike. If you are uncomfortable, leisure or performance will simply not happen. Saddle fits include trying up to two saddles over two weeks.
The first contact point to check on any bike is your cleat and pedal placements. To efficiently produce power, setting your cleats on your shoes is vital to climbing, spinning and injury prevention. Spend some time with a biomechanical physiologist to have your cleats placed in the best biomechanical position for you.
Walking around all day in a pair of shoes 1/2 size too big would feel terrible. You would alter your gait, grip too much with your feet, and end up exhausted from battling the wrong size shoes. The same thing can happen on your bike when you use crank arms of the wrong size. Your crank arm spans the distance between your pedal/cleat system and the chainrings. A crank arm that is too long will alter your pedal stroke, decrease your performance and, over time, will create undue stress on your joints from head to toe. Take a few minutes and ride the GURU Dynamic Fit Unit to see what crank arm length you should be riding. It makes all the difference!
